If convicted, Oakley could face between one and six years in prison, TMZ reports. It is unclear what game Oakley was playing, but Oakley "was suspected of adding to or reducing his wager on a gambling game after the outcome was known", officials from the Nevada Gaming Board said.

The arrest occurred at the Cosmopolitan on July 8. A source told TMZ that Oakley tried to remove a $100 chip from a wager before being confronted. The Clark County Detention Center confirmed Oakley had been arrested but has since been released.

However, according to TMZ, Oakley's reps say, "This is an insignificant matter that will be quickly resolved".

Oakley played in the National Basketball Association for 19 seasons, including 10 years with the New York Knicks.

Oakley has an active civil suit against Madison Square Garden and Knicks owner James Dolan following his February 2017 forced removal from the arena by security and subsequent arrest. Oakley later agreed to a plea deal to have the charges dropped and subsequently filed the civil suit. But since then, Oakley has had a rocky relationship with the team.

Oakley was charged with misdemeanor assault and trespassing, among other charges.

Oakley's camp does not think this will be a major issue going forward.

Another bad turn for Charles Oakley.
