The dedicated HTC Exodus site claims that the smartphone will be the "first cold wallet phone with key recovery" offering.

CryptoKitties is based on blockchain principles.

"In the new internet age people are generally more conscious about their data, this a flawless opportunity to empower the user to start owning their digital identity", said HTC chief crypto officer Phil Chen.

Apart from supporting cryptocurrencies, the company announced that it would introduce blockchain game CryptoKitties as an exclusive feature for its U12+ smartphone through a partnership with Animoca Brands Corp, a mobile game distributor and publisher. CryptoKitties comes as the "world's biggest game to be built on blockchain technology", and unlike any cryptocurrency, it uses a blockchain to create digital creatures that can users can collect, breed, and trade.

According to HTC, CryptoKitties will come pre-loaded on all mobile devices, debuting on the U12+.

CryptoKitties is now only available on desktop operating systems, and HTC's downloadable app would be the world's first mobile version of the collectible game, a company spokesperson said.

HTC has unveiled more details on its all-new blockchain phone. We could also see decentralized applications and app store.

Electronics giant HTC will not be releasing a smartphone with a native blockchain network for crypto trading between users as previously announced, The Verge reported July 10.

As the company continues to grapple with a tougher smartphone market, it has shifted its focus to developing leading-edge technologies for artificial intelligence, 5G networking, blockchain, augmented reality and virtual reality as part of its turnaround plan.
