A lawyer for the star, who is locked in a court battle with US President Donald Trump over their alleged affair, said the arrest was "politically motivated".

Last month, the Sirens Gentlemen's Club posted on its website that Daniels was scheduled to perform there Wednesday and Thursday.

After her "Make America Horny Again" show, undercover officers approached Daniels and said she would be arrested for allowing the patron to touch her. "We also expect that she will be charged with a misdemeanor for allowing "touching".

Michael Avenatti said in a tweet the charge was "politically motivated".

Since gaining nationwide prominence for her accusation against President Trump - and the $130,000 payment she received to originally keep quiet - Ms. Clifford has drawn crowds at strip clubs across the country, including in Greenville, S.C., Salem, Ore., and Des Moines, Iowa. He added: "It reeks of desperation".

Early Thursday she remained in custody awaiting a determination of bail, Avenatti said. "We will fight all bogus charges", Avenatti said on Twitter.

Adult film star Stormy Daniels has been arrested at a strip club in OH after being accused of allowing a customer to touch her.

Dailymail.com reached out to Sirens who refused to comment.

The Ohio strip club law prohibiting the touching of dancers, the Community Defense Act, was proposed by a Cincinnati-based conservative religious organization and approved in 2007.

Columbus police tell CBS News they're not aware of Daniels being arrested, and as of early Thursday, Daniels wasn't being held by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.

In April, Daniels filed suit in federal court in NY charging that Trump had defamed her.

Her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, concedes the patrons did indeed touch his client but in a "non-sexual way".
