According to Variety, James and screenwriter Steve Mallory (The Boss), along with James' production banner SpringHill Entertainment, have sold a comedy pitch to Paramount Players, with James potentially starring. The films been in the works for several months and Mallory would be the person who would pen the film's script.

LeBron is set to produce the film with his SpringHill partner Maverick Carter. Ali Bell and Gabby Canton are handling the project for Paramount Players.

National Basketball Association star LeBron James just signed a historic deal with Los Angeles Lakers (that being a 4-year, $154 million contract - one of the biggest in sports history), but he's also working on other ambitions off the court.

While his family situation and the opportunity to put his son Bronny Jr. into a top-flight high school for hoops may have played a bigger role, it hasn't taken long for LeBron to take advantage of being in Los Angeles full-time.

The NBA player last found himself on the big screen in Judd Apatow's 2015 comedy Trainwreck where the athlete turned movie star played himself. That project allowed him to become a member of the Producers Guild.

He is represented by WME and Ziffren Brittenham.
