Stenhouse: "I was frustrated with myself causing crashes like that"

Jones was in second place trailing Truex at the time of that near-finish mark.

At the end of a week in which talk of younger drivers needing to show force in NASCAR racing edged into the conversation, one did. Rounding out the top 10 were Ty Dillon, Matt DiBenedetto, Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon and Alex Bowman. He led one lap, the final circuit.

"Oh boy, how 'bout that race boys and girls?" My first Cup win, my first win at Daytona, my first superspeedway win. "The first one, (William Byron) blocked (Brad Keselowski) and from where I was sitting, I thought we were going to get to the inside of him, so I wasn't really expecting (Keselowski) to check up that quick", Stenhouse said.

Jones, 22, beat Martin Truex Jr, AJ Allmendinger, Kasey Kahne and Chris Buescher in a two-lap shootout. Kurt Busch, who was involved in one of the wrecks, expressed his frustration in a tweet.

Who Had a Bad Day: It seemed nobody was immune to getting caught in a huge accident Saturday night and that tone started on lap 54 when almost half the field was involved in a multi-car melee.

Still, Stenhouse managed to lead 51 laps during the race - more than twice as many as any other driver.

Stenhouse also won the first stage, his first of the stage victory year.

STAGE TWO: Stenhouse won the second stage over Michael McDowell as the field, decimated by two big wrecks, finished lap 80. Busch's No. 18 Toyota slide right and took out William Byron.

THE BIG ONE: More than half of the 40-car field was involved in the first big crash of the night. "Ricky (Stenhouse) was doing the best he could to give me a good push and had a great run to take the lead, and the auto in front of me just threw a late, bad block, Keselowski said". Those are the kinds of things that get other drivers heated, potentially even to the point where they want to start throwing punches.

Stage One: Polesitter #9 Chase Elliott was able to lead the first 10 laps until #17 Ricky Stenhouse Jr traded the lead between himself and Elliott for a couple laps before leading the rest of the stage and capturing his first stage win of the year.

"When one vehicle sits sideways in front of the field at 200 miles per hour, you can't get through it", driver Joey Logano said of the mishaps.

Quotable: "My fault...we're not wrecking enough people, people are throwing too many bad blocks", Brad Keselowski after getting eliminated from the race in the night's 20 vehicle crash.

Daytona 500 victor Austin Dillon didn't seem to be much of a factor, but he made it to the end of the night and finished ninth.
