An emergency team believed to be carrying one of the rescued boys from the flooded cave heads to the hospital in Chiang Rai in the Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai province, northern Thailand, Monday, July 9, 2018.

He also recalled the sacrifice of 38-year-old Petty Officer First Class Samarn Kunan, a former Thai Navy SEAL diver, who volunteered and lost his life during the operation.

Four medics who have been accompanying the group since they were found on July 2 deep inside Luang Khun Nam Nang Non cave will also dive out with them, Narongsak said.

All 12 members of a Thai soccer team and their coach have been rescued from a cave where they were stranded by floodwater for 17 days.

All the eight rescued survivors are now quarantined in the clean ward of the hospital.

"In times of crisis, when Thai people are faced with hardship, His Majesty the King and the Royal Family have always expressed concern and closely observed the situation, and have graciously provided direct assistance to all officials involved, with constant encouragement and guidance to the rescue mission", he went on.

The four were rescued from the cave on Sunday in a better than expected result against the threat of impending monsoonal rain.

Further, three boys were rescued on Tuesday morning, while the remaining two, along with their coach, were rescued later in the day.
