West Ham have succeeded where the likes of Liverpool, Everton and AC Milan have all failed in the past by signing the elusive Andriy Yarmolenko.

And Yarmolenko expressed his excitement at moving to the Premier League after one season in the Bundesliga, where he scored three goals in 18 appearances.

"We are very happy to welcome Andriy", West Ham director of football Mario Husillos said on the club's website.

'The Premier League is the best league in the world and I know that an interesting project is being built here at West Ham.

West Ham were hoping to sign Yaya Toure this summer and have held talks with the former Manchester City midfielder, according to the Sun.

'The team wants to achieve high things and I am excited for this challenge'.

The Ukrainian has regularly been linked with Premier League clubs in recent years and now has the chance to show what he can do. They become our fourth and fifth new signings of an already busy summer, after the additions of Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski. And Brazilian Anderson could be next.

Dortmund snapped up Yarmolenko from Dynamo Kiev last August after Ousmane Dembele left for Barcelona.

The club have also had a bid of £20m, rising to £25m, rejected for Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles.

The Magpies have stood firm on their stance that the defender would not be sold, despite widespread interest.
