If he does win, Legend will earn the highly coveted honor of someone who has won all four major annual American entertainment awards: Emmy, GRAMMY, Oscar and Tony. As if that wasn't enough reason to celebrate on its own, if Legend winds the statuette during the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards this fall, he will officially joint he prestigious EGOT club!

Since Legend has already won a Grammy, Oscar, and Tony over the course of his career, if he nabs the Emmy award on September 17, he will join the coveted group of, ahem, legends (there are only 12 in total!) who have already scored wins at all four of the award ceremonies including the likes of Rita Moreno, Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, and Mel Brooks. (Legend also has a Golden Globe for "Glory", but that doesn't mean anything in the EGOT world.) The "All of Me" singer already has ten Grammys, including Best New Artist from 2006, and he got his Tony a year ago for co-producing a revival of the August Wilson play Jitney. He previously won an Oscar in 2015 for his song "Glory", which accompanied the movie "Selma".

Legend is nominated in 2018 for outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie for his work in "Jesus Christ Superstar". "I couldn't be more proud of what we all did together and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to do this". That list includes Whoopi Goldberg, Mel Brooks, and Audrey Hepburn.

Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen, took to Twitter to share her excitement at the news with a little self deprocation.

NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert received 13 nominations, including ones for stars John Legend, Sara Bareilles (Waitress), and Brandon Victor Dixon (Hamilton). John got two emmy nominations! "But it's ok I AM SO PROUD!"

Jesus Chris Superstar was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards in total, a record-breaking number for a live TV musical. If he wins, he will complete his EGOT and my spike TV award will probably be moved.
