TV prankster Sacha Baron Cohen has fired a return salvo in his war of words with Sarah Palin.

The former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate called the comedian "evil, exploitative and sick" in a Facebook post on 10 July after he duped her into an interview for his new show Who Is America?

The closer we get to the Sunday premiere of Sacha Baron Cohen's new Showtime series Who Is America?

Sarah Palin was one of Cohen's victims, as she herself revealed earlier this week.

Palin, the 2008 USA vice-presidential candidate, says she was tricked into an interview, ostensibly about American veterans, by a person dressed as a disabled US serviceman. "Ruddick" says he never stole valor by saying he served in the military when he didn't, and that when he said he was "in the service" he meant the United Parcel Service.

Cohen, as Ruddick, then mocked Palin for questioning the authenticity of former President Barack Obama's birth certificate and comments she made about being able to see Russian Federation from her home in Alaska. "So why hunt a fine citizen journalist like myself?" the letter states.

"Ruddick, a totally real individual who only joined Twitter back in April, went on to tell Palin he "[has] always admired you for TELLING THE TRUTH about Obama's birth certificate and the location of Russian Federation.

Palin had claimed Cohen disguised himself as a "disabled USA veteran" during the interview before she walked out.

Baron Cohen's series, Who Is America? "But ma'am, I do believe you have been hit by a bulls**t grenade are are now bleedin' FAKE NEWS".

"Who is America?", due to launch on Sunday on cable channel Showtime, has been shrouded in secrecy apart from a trailer showing former US defense secretary Dick Cheney signing a large bottle described as a water-boarding kit.

Showtime had no comment on Wednesday on the accounts by Palin and Walsh and has declined to give details of the series, or who will be appearing.

"I DEMAND an APOLOGY", Sacha ended the letter.
