Texas Judge Phil Grant sentenced the woman to 40 years in prison today for Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, Attempted Human Trafficking, and Promotion of Prostitution of a Child charges.

A woman was arrested and charged after she arranged to have a man engage in sex acts with her two-year-old daughter in exchange for $1,200, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Sarah Peters entered into an agreement with an undercover officer to sell her 2-year-old daughter for sex. She was also allegedly in the process of selling two other children when police intervened.

Peters has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. Peters traveled on a Greyhound bus to meet with the officer at the agreed-upon meeting place in Conroe, Texas, believing that he would have sex with the small girl for the payment of $1,200. The customer at a Greyhound bus station was later revealed to be Detective Jerry Serratt, part of a task force targeting Internet crimes involving children, according to the local report. Agents said the mother forwarded photos of young girls, asking if there was anyone who wanted "to have fun" with her daughter. She won't be eligible for parole until 2038. "Our citizens must realize that this type of activity happens in our community". Any would-be criminal should be warned: "this Department will remain relentless in hunting down those who victimize our children".

Peters' daughter has since been placed in the custody of state Child Protective Services.
