Trump blames Obama for not preventing 2016 hacking attack

"The stories you heard about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump Administrations", Trump said on Twitter.

Former U.S. president Barack Obama will embark on his first trip to the continent since he left office this week, where he'll visit his ancestral home of Kenya, before heading to South Africa to convene with the Obama Foundation Leaders and deliver the keynote address to mark Nelson Mandela's 100th Birthday.

The indictment says the Russian military officers hacked computer networks belonging to the Democratic Party to interfere with the election, stealing emails and other documents.

Forty-six percent of Millennials believe Obama is the best, as compared to only 12 percent for Trump, the survey found. Sixty-two percent, or six-in-ten millennials, think Michelle Obama's husband is one of the top presidents.

The Trump administration has emphasized that the indictments do not indicate any level of collusion by a member of the Trump campaign.

Trump has previously said he trusts Putin "means it" when the Russian leader claimed he did not meddle in the election but has also said that he agrees with USA intelligence agencies on the matter.

The Russian government has repeatedly denied that it had any role in the DNC and Clinton campaign hacking. But the Obama White House was hesitant to go public because of worries Obama would be seen as trying to influence the election himself.

The Russian foreign ministry in a statement called the indictments "false information" and said "obviously, the objective of this is to spoil the atmosphere" ahead of the Trump-Putin summit.

Trump also took Saturday morning to come after CNN and Jim Acosta. The senators called on Trump to "advance a well-coordinated US message", supported by senior administration leaders, to hold Russian Federation accountable.

In one of his more inscrutable tweets Saturday, he also raised questions about a "Deep State" plot involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

But as Jennifer Johnson reports, Democrats want that summit cancelled.

The response was nearly identical to Trump's reaction in February to the indictment of 16 Russians accused of carrying out a social media propaganda campaign to influence the 2016 election.
