Amazon Prime Day vs Black Friday price comparison

Amazon are also offering its Prime members four months of Prime Music for just 99p! The event began back during the summer of 2015 when the internet commerce giant promoted the event to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

This is the biggest Prime Day yet.

Prime Day, named for Amazon's $120-a-year Prime membership, begins Monday at 2 p.m. and lasts until midnight on Tuesday. This can give the rival a key advantage when holiday shopping season rolls around, and brand loyalty is critical since Amazon now captures almost 50 percent of all online spending in the US, according to Emarketer Inc.

The retailer is also offering free shipping on some of its deal items and a new best price guarantee-which means it will give you 110% of the price difference for all eligible purchases.

Big box retailers like Walmart, Target and Best Buy will be hitching their wagon to Amazon's Prime Day star with deals of their own over the course of the next few days.

A dedicated deal site followed through with the last three Amazon Prime Day years and compared the discounts to the Black Friday ones before it.

You have to be a member to participate in Prime Day, but there are ways to circumvent paying the $119 annual fee, at least initially. All you have to do to make sure you are not charged is to cancel within the month. If you've never been a Prime member before, you can get a free 30-day trial just by signing up. Amazon is hoping its deals, available only to Prime members, are a hit with customers as it's raising the price of the program. But memberships also include access to Amazon's Prime Video streaming service, the option to use Prime Now to get orders (or food) within a couple of hours, use of Amazon Music, exclusive Prime deals here and there, and as of recently, special deals at Whole Foods.

Most of Amazon's device lineup has been discounted in the lead up to Prime Day proper.

And you're guaranteed savings on certain products so let's get to it.
