It seems at least some of their prayers have been answered, because Fillion is now the star of fan short based on the video game series Uncharted.

To many, the role of Nathan Drake is tailor-made for Fillion, and writer/director Allan Ungar apparently agreed, giving fans their first glimpse at a live-action depiction of the defacto Naughty Dog mascot.

Everyone's favorite Browncoat, Nathan Fillion, set gaming communities a-buzz last week with an Instagram post teasing the reveal of an unknown Uncharted project on July 16. It's 14 and a half minutes of joyous action and adventure, and Fillion fills the role perfectly.

It's clear that Ungar is a dear admirer of the game series he's adapting, particularly during the short film's climactic getaway scene, which apes the game's style by being filmed from behind Fillion's back, and occasionally employing an over-the-shoulder zoom during shootouts.

What do you think of the fan-made film? (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze) as the diminutive torturer, El Tigre. An Uncharted film project has been stuck in the depths of development hell for years with no recent developments to speak of.

Time will tell. Until then, check out the fan-film below-which Fillion, both a hero and a gentleman, also co-produced himself-and dream of that sweet, sweet alternate reality where a Fillion feature-length exists. But it was all for naught, as it's been over a decade and there's still no "Uncharted" film.

The company could take the film down, but it might be better off tapping up Ungar and Fillion for its proper full length.
