No Man's Sky NEXT update trailer

The Xbox One version of the game will feature HDR and 4K support as well as every major content update released for the game thus far (which includes the Foundation, Pathfinder, and Atlas Rises updates). Earlier this year, the company said it would be releasing a massive update this summer that would add true multiplayer to the game.

"You can help friends to stay alive, or prey on others to survive", the studio explains.

According to Sean Murray's post on the PlayStation Blog, the entire game is playable in third or first person mode, with added character customization. Visuals set in space and planetary terrain generation have been improved, with more detail added to ships, NPCs and buildings. NEXT also brings a visual overhaul to the game, allowing for third or first person, more detailed environments, and wider variety - including ringed planets.

Base building has undergone some changes for the Next update, and players will now be able to construct multiple bases anywhere on a planet. Bases can now be bigger and more complex, with hundreds of new building pieces coming with the update.

Assemble and upgrade a fleet of frigates and command them. You can then send your fleet out into the vast expanse, or use them to explore specific systems.

No Man's Sky will be launching on Xbox One alongside the NEXT update on 24th July in North America and 27th July in Europe.

He goes on to say that the team has been "working their socks off" on this update and that it will be free to No Man's Sky owners. "We can't wait for people to play, and hopefully you can see from the trailer this is a very new experience".

Most have since moved on to other titles but developer Hello Games isn't giving up on the effort.
