Shocking footage captures terrifying moment plane crashes killing two on board

The footage was filmed by a passenger and shows how flames spewed from the engine of the vintage aircraft, which shook violently moments before crashing.

In the video, the passenger is pointing his phone out a window of the plane.

One frightened man can be heard saying "this is getting very, very bad" and "they best get us to the runway".

19 people were on board the scenic flight, which departed from Wonderboom Airport near Pretoria, AIRLIVE reported.

The 1954 Convair CV340 plane belonged to the Dutch National Aviation Museum, Aviodrome, according to South African news site eNCA.

Cellphone footage taken minutes before a plane crashed in Wonderboom, north of Pretoria, has been circulated on social media.

Scary images taken from the ground show the wreckage of the plane and clouds of black smoke billowing from the aircraft.

SA Civil Aviation Authority officials are conducting a full-scale investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
