Metal Gear Solid Movie Director Says Script Is Finished

Here I was thinking buying Metal Gear Solid 3 four times was a little bit extreme.

A Metal Gear Solid movie has been in various stages of planning and pre-production for years, but the latest iteration of the film has reached a massive milestone - it has a script. Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts has been pushing the film project hard over the past week, and he's had nothing but praise for the new script that's been sent his way. According to Vogt-Roberts, it's one of the best scripts he's ever read. "Even me and being involved in it, I look at it as someone who is like, 'I would make the hell out of this movie.' But if I wasn't involved in it, I would still look at that script and be like, 'holy shit'". He wants to make "the most Kojima version of" this film that he possibly can. He and Vogt-Roberts have a history together, as Connolly co-wrote Kong: Skull Island, which Vogt-Roberts directed.

Vogt-Roberts seems to think his vision for a Metroid film isn't a possibility, but perhaps if the Metal Gear Solid movie does well, then he will be given the opportunity to try his hand at it. He can sit in his Ludens suit, gazing out on his library of ludicrous Metal Gear Solid memorabilia while the rest of us mere mortals tough it out back on something that doesn't resemble Hideo Kojima's private study.

Vogt-Roberts isn't just a random man who's been asked to join the movie, but somebody who has a true passion for the franchise.

Video game movies have a history of being mediocre or worse.
