'This show will be rescheduled for Sunday 12th August.

In a statement issued on behalf of Cuffe and Taylor - the concert organisers - a spokesperson said: "It is with regret that we have to cancel Tom Jones" performance at Stansted Park this evening. All tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date.

The singer was due to perform at Chester Racecourse on Thursday night before heading to Germany and Finland and back to the United Kingdom for a string of dates next month. The condition is being well managed and we are hoping for a speedy recovery.

Sir Tom Jones fans will be disappointed to hear that he has called off his Stansted Park gig at the last minute, on advice from his doctors.

Tom Jones has cancelled his concert at Stansted Park tonight because he is too unwell to perform.

It continued: "Sir Tom Jones has a bacterial infection for which he is being treated in hospital". We apologise for any inconvenience this caused and we wish Tom well'.

Sir Tom Jones was forced to pull out of a live performance with hours to spare on Wednesday, on medical grounds.

Last year, the "It's Not Unusual" singer postponed his American tour, pushing dates back from September 2017 to May 2018 on medical grounds.
