It's hard to believe that 10 years have passed since the release of "The Dark Knight". Director Christopher Nolan has continued to utilize the format in his films, including "Interstellar" and "Dunkirk". Fans of the Nolan Batman films will have the opportunity to see the film in glorious IMAX for one week starting Friday, August 24.

With The Dark Knight, Nolan broke new ground-shooting select sequences of the movie with IMAX film cameras-making The Dark Knight the first major feature film to utilize IMAX 70mm film and take advantage of the format's massive scale and increased resolution.

The exclusive limited engagement will offer the public an extremely rare opportunity to see The Dark Knight on the biggest screens possible, as it was meant to be seen-in IMAX 70mm film-offering a uniquely immersive cinematic experience. The theatres will list additional showtimes for subsequent dates closer to release.

The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won two, including a posthumous supporting actor Oscar for Heath Ledger's memorable performance as the Joker. Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull served as executive producers.

Since The Dark Knight, blockbusters such as Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Wars films The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi have all followed suit. That was $200 more than Marvel's "Iron Man", which held the No. 2 spot that year.
