Now the show is being turned into a Syfy series, and a new trailer just debuted at San Diego Comic-Con International.

The new Nightflyers trailer explains that the spaceship is humanity's only hope, but a malfunction during launch kills a few and puts the rest of the crew in danger, as they are forced to grapple with a series of horrors.

Martin, best known as the author behind Game of Thrones, is as an executive producer on Nightflyers. "There is something wrong with this ship" is a sentiment that echoes ominously over images of characters succumbing, in varying degrees, to the ship's manipulations.

The 10-episode series airs this fall on Syfy and stars Eoin Macken, Gretchen Mol, David Ajala and Sam Strike.

Set in the year 2093, Nightflyers is a psychological thriller that follows a team of scientists aboard the Nightflyer, the most advanced ship ever built, as they embark on a journey to find other life forms. Netflix is co-producing and has the first-run rights to the series outside of the U.S. Nightflyers will arrive on SYFY this fall in the United States and on Netflix worldwide. He previously described the show as Alfred Hitchcock's "Pyscho [but] in space", basically like "a haunted house story on a starship". Jeff Buhler (Jacob's Ladder) wrote the adaptation for television and will executive produce alongside Daniel Cerone (The Blacklist), who will also serve as showrunner.
