Ward is initially being signed as a back-up to Kasper Schmeichel, however, the World Cup goalkeeper has been linked with a move to both Chelsea and Roma.

Liverpool's previous number 1 Simon Mignoletvis nearly certain to press for a move away from Anfield on his return from World Cup duty and Ward's expected departure from the Merseyside would leave Loris Karius as the number two to the incoming Alisson Becker.

Ward's arrival, however, will likely only serve to increase speculation regarding Schmeichel's future at the King Power - particularly with reports on Thursday morning suggesting that Roma would be looking at the Danish global as a potential replacement for Liverpool-bound Alisson. "I've come here to develop my all-round game and hopefully help deliver some more success".

With Brazilian worldwide Allison on the verge of completing a £67million move to Liverpool from AS Roma, Wrexham-born Ward was set to find his chances of breaking into Jurgen Klopp's first-team limited further, having already fallen behind Loris Karius and Simon Mingolet.

Huddersfield Town secured his services on loan and the stopper was a vital performer as they achieved promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs at the end of the season, saving two penalties in the semi-final and another in the final.

The 28-year-old striker's future at Anfield has inevitably been called into question this summer after he struggled to hold down a spot at the Merseyside outfit last term and ended up being shipped off to West Bromwich Albion on loan.

Alisson's arrival casts further doubts over the amount playing time Ward would get at Anfield after failing to break into the squad last season.

Leicester City manager Claude Puel said: "I'm very happy to welcome Danny to Leicester City Football Club".
