Los Angeles police are investigating an unspecific criminal complaint against Anthony Anderson.

According to celebrity news site The Blast, the alleged victim filed a police report with the LAPD Hollywood Division earlier this year following an event she catered for the actor.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Anderson denied the allegations and said his team was not made aware of any investigation.

A spokesperson for Anderson told the outlet: 'It's unfortunate that anyone can file a police report whether it is true or false.

The LAPD confirmed to Variety that a criminal investigation is underway, but had no additional information at this time and could not reveal the nature of the inquiry.

A representative for the black-ish star says, "It's unfortunate that anyone can file a police report whether it is true or false".

The actor just received his fourth straight Emmy nomination for his role as patriarch Andre Johnson in Kenya Barris' ABC family sitcom "Black-ish". The specific details regarding the alleged incident are now unclear. Apparently, the woman finally felt comfortable enough to come forward with these accusations against Anderson in some part due to the #MeToo movement, sources added. "Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim", the actor's representative told Variety recently.

In 2004, rape charges against Anderson were dropped when a judge found that there was no probable cause to try the case and dismissed it.
