"The show is really going to a different place this year, so figuring out exactly how you communicate that to the audience that you're giving them this is the show that you love but we're doing something bigger and different with it this year".

Andrew Lincoln confirmed Friday during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con that he was leaving the show, and the new trailer may reveal how.

"This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes", Lincoln told the Comic-Con crowd to a series of groans. It means everything to me.

"I'm particularly fond of the people who watch this show, you people", Lincoln continued, addressing the fans in the audience.

Considering the losses that were experienced during season 8, viewers hoping for a story that follows the plot from the popular comic could be out of luck since it appears the upcoming episodes will be more of a remix from the established comic storylines. "My relationship with Mr Grimes is far from over". "He's had a tough time". Andrew has been played Rick Grimes on the show since it premiered in 2010. Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on August 12.

Just as Creedence Clearwater Revival saw a bad moon rising, the characters of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead sense a major storm coming - one that fails to offer its victims calm once it passes. The ninth season will jump forward in time following the events of the group's All Out War with Negan and his Saviors and will highlight a changing infrastructure in the physical world as Rick works to build the more peaceful utopia that his late son, Carl, envisioned.
