Actress and singer Elmarie Wendel, best known for her role as Mrs. Dubcek on the NBC sitcom "3rd Rock From the Sun", has died at 89.

Wendel's death was announced by her daughter, Dave's World star J.C. Wendel.

Wendel and her sisters drove around with their parents, performing in small venues, including the Grand Ole Opry.

Wendel's daughter confirmed her death on Instagram over the weekend. The role would last the show's entire 1996-2001 duration, eventually expanded in Season 2 when the show added distinguished SNL alum Jan Hooks (who passed away back in 2014, ) as Dubcek's daughter, Vicki, who became a love interest for French Stewart's Harry Solomon. She is credited on 96 of the NBC sitcom's 139 episodes. She also was featured on "The George Lopez Show", "Seinfeld", "NYPD Blue", "Knight Rider", "General Hospital", "The Facts of Life", "The Jeffersons" and "Murphy Brown".

Although Wendel found stardom in '90s, she had been acting since 1961. She later proved her talents as a voice actress, lending her pipes to Aunt Grizelda in the 2012 animated musical fantasy-comedy film The Lorax and to several characters - Mandy Stiles, Cathy, and Pulowski - in Bethesda's post-apocalyptic action role-playing game Fallout 4.

As Beaver lovingly recalls of Wendel, "She was raucous, funny, endearing, and terribly, terribly sweet".

The 67-year-old signed off: "Goodnight, Mrs. Dubcek, wherever you are". She eventually made the transition to Broadway and off Broadway production in New York City before going to Los Angeles as part of a travelling production of Annie.
