The police said the home had been destroyed. "Once a house starts coming apart, there's debris everywhere".

No other deaths or injuries have been reported, though multiple campers and trees had been knocked over nearby.

The tornado that touched down near the small Manitoba community of Alonsa, Man., on Friday night may have been on the ground for up to 45 minutes, Environment Canada says.

Mike Russo, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said reports of how long the storm was on the ground are still unconfirmed. He said the areas that appear to be hit hardest by the storm system are Bluff Creek and Margaret Bruce Beach.

But a team of three people are heading to the area Saturday morning to survey the damage and gather details on what exactly took place, he said.

She and her husband watched the tornado grow and move for about a half hour, filming on her phone, Richard said. "It hit a local beach out here and we know that there was campers turned upside down and a camper on top of a vehicle".
