At least four people killed in Canada shooting

Fredericton Police are telling people to stay indoors and lock their doors.

The Fredericton Police Department tweeted Friday morning to caution residents to avoid Brookside Drive due to an "ongoing incident". The circumstances of the shooting are unclear at this point.

Police have urged people to avoid the area. "More information will be available when we can confirm".

Police said Brookside Drive between Main Street and Ring Road will remain closed "for the foreseeable future" to work the investigation.

LeBlanc told CBC that the 23 kids in her care were unaware of the ongoing security incident, but that she was nervous as the person in charge of their care.

UDPATE: At this time we can confirm that we have one suspect in custody.

Fredericton is a city of roughly 58,000 about 75 miles from the ME border.

"Doors are locked and everybody's inside", he said.

"With the tempo, it might've been a gunshot", he said.

Halifax Regional Police Chief Jean-Michel Blais says he has spoken to Fredericton Police Force's chief to offer any support they need.
