L'Equipe are an extremely reliable source, and the fact that they are reporting this indicates the deal is close to completion. Now, it seems they have set their sights on Chelsea outcast Zouma.

The Premier League will inform Everton on Friday morning whether a loan move for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma can proceed, after Marco Silva's side made a late play for the former Saint-Etienne man.

Zouma subsequently missed almost one season of football before he made his return to the pitch.

And now they are trying to push through an agreement to sign Zouma on a season-long loan deal and have submitted a deal sheet with the Premier League to get more time to complete the move.

It might be hard for him to get regular playing time at Chelsea this season, so sending him out on loan makes sense.

Zouma was signed by Mourinho in 2014 when he was the manager of the London based outfit.

The Toffees were extremely active on deadline day and addressed their centre back issues by signing Barcelona's Yerry Mina but are still keen to add depth to their squad in the form of Zouma. Manchester United have thus, opened negotiations with their rivals over a possible move for the 23-year-old, although the Blues are unwilling to sell to a direct rival. And Kurt Zouma could still join him on Merseyside, even though the transfer window slammed shut at 5:00pm on Thursday.
