Disney And Marvel Reportedly Discussing Bringing James Gunn Back For Guardians 3

Deadline is reporting that back channel talks are taking place between Marvel Studios and Disney to potentially rehire Gunn.

First up comes a report from THR, which claims that Disney is yet to fully sever its contract with Gunn, and that the studio and his reps are still negotiating his exit - a matter complicated by the fact that Marvel still intends on using his script for the cosmic superhero threequel.

According to Deadline, the latest conversations opened up after the cast letter but previous reports about the unlikelihood of Gunn's rehiring mostly remain true at this point.

It's not at all surprising that there would be pushback from Kevin Feige and the folks at Marvel, considering Gunn is the creative mind behind one of their most successful franchises - not to mention one that was set as a touchstone to transition audiences into the otherwise mysterious Phase 4.
