Everton have signed Yerry Mina, the Barcelona defender, after being given an additional two hours to finalise the signing and taking their summer spending to about £80 million.

Everton will pay Barcelona £2m for the season long loan and will also pay the player's wages.

All of the Everton and Fulham dealings materialised close to the deadline, while the early stages of the day were dominated by Chelsea, who confirmed Mateo Kovacic's arrival after signing Kepa Arrizabalaga late on Wednesday.

Mina had always been linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer with the club's purchases of non-EU players in Malcom, Arthur and Arturo Vidal filling their quote per La Liga's rules.

Bernard, a 25-year-old capped 14 times by Brazil, was a free agent after his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk expired and said Portuguese manager Marco Silva played a big role in attracting him to the club.

'I chose Everton because of all the things I'd heard about Marco Silva and because Everton is a club with a lot of tradition, ' Bernard told the club's official website. He has achieved really good things at other clubs.

Everton and Fulham stole the show on the Premier League's transfer deadline day, as both clubs welcomed several eye-catching signings.

"I don't know anything at the moment but if he were to come here he would be very welcome and he would help the team a great deal. I believe I will be able to show my best as a player here".

He joins former Barcelona team-mate Lucas Digne on Merseyside, and Mina added: 'The World Cup was incredible and I will never forget it, ' added Mina, who joins Lucas Digne in swapping Barcelona for Everton this month.
