His name has been in the running for several years to play the most famous secret agent in film - but it looks like Idris Elba may well scoop the role of his career, according to recent reports.

They say that director Antoine Fuqua "revealed the details of a conversation with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, in which she said "it is time" for a non-white actor to take on the iconic role".

A report in British tabloid The Daily Star suggests actor Idris Elba, who played business-minded drug kingpin Bell in the acclaimed HBO drama The Wire, could be next in line to play James Bond. Whether it's a tortured detective in Luther, an all-seeing demi-god, Heimdall, in Thor series, or even portraying Nelson Mandela in Long Walk to Freedom, Elba is one of Hollywood's hottest commodity.

"It is time....it will happen eventually."
I am shook. And stirred.

"Idris could do it if he was in shape". Daniel Craig will reprise his role as 007 and Helena Bonham Carter is reportedly being eyed to play the villain. MGM will distribute the film domestically while Universal Pictures will handle worldwide distribution.

The latest Bond film is scheduled to reach United Kingdom cinemas on October 25, 2019.
