Manchester United are reportedly planning to launch a late bid to try and sign Serbian worldwide Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio.

The Red Devils initially earmarked him as a replacement for Marouane Fellaini but, when the Belgium worldwide stayed put, they eased off.

Manchester United, however, remain favourites to sign him in the long term amid uncertainty over Pogba's future.

Pjanic - who only recently signed a five-year contract with Juventus - has already had approaches from Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City this summer and could feature in a possible swap deal.

United are reportedly in the market for another centre-back with several names being linked but it seems they are also searching for a top class midfielder amid strong speculation suggesting Paul Pogba is trying to engineer a move out of Old Trafford this summer.

"Sergej is the best young player on the world scene, with huge potential", Lotito told Corriere della Sera .

"Up until now, no one has put themselves forward", Lotito claimed.

As per reports from Italian outlet Calciomercato, Manchester United are planning a last-ditch swoop for 23-year old Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic before the English transfer deadline on Thursday.

"Of course, I do not push to sell him but if you ask me how much he is worth then I remember that previous year, August 29, I refused a €110 million offer".

Even then, signing him will not be the easiest of tasks for Manchester United, with a number of other clubs interested in Milinkovic-Savic.

"Milinkovic-Savic is a dream for many teams, unfortunately right now dreaming about a player who is worth so much is not possible for us", Leonardo added.

"That just shows how far the kid has come".
