The English Premier League's (EPL) transfer window closed on August 9 with more than 1 billion euros spent by the teams.

According to Deloitte's spokesperson, Tim Bridge, just 14 per cent of that figure, which is £175m, was spent on transfers between two Premier League clubs - an unforeseen effect of the league's window, closing before the rest of Europe.

The only addition to the north London club in the new season is a new stadium and even that won't be ready for the first month - at least.

The Russian star was one of the players to behold at the Russia 2018 World Cup as he dazzled for the hos t country enroute to a respectable quarter- final finish at the World Cup.

See which players and managers have come and gone.

Tottenham provided the most players to the World Cup semi-finalists, but strong performances in Russian Federation were not a necessity when it came to Premier League clubs deciding whether to spend the fruits of soccer's biggest television contracts.

Kepa Arrizabalaga never made it on the pitch for Spain in Russian Federation but Chelsea broke the transfer record for a goalkeeper by meeting an 80 million euro ($93 million) buyout clause from Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois. Guardiola opted for only one significant new recruit, landing Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez from Leicester in a 60 million pound ($76.6 million) swoop.

Mina had an excellent World Cup in Russian Federation scoring three goals in three games which also includes goal against his new club teammate Jordan Pickford in stoppage time sending the England vs Colombia the last 16 tie to extra-time.

"Over the last few years, a manager we revere has forged an exciting team that has challenged for top honours". "If we are happy with our squad and can not improve our squad, sometimes it's better to keep our squad together".

Manchester United coach, Jose Mourinho made no secret of his desire to sign the sturdy defender as he made an initial bid of £65m which was rejected by the club who demanded that they would only listen to offers from £100m.
