"We encourage you to call the Dolphins ticket office to request a refund because this organization obviously DOES NOT honor First Responders and the dangers they put themselves in every day", said the union in a statement posted on Facebook.

At least five players silently demonstrated during the national anthem during a full slate of preseason NFL games on Thursday. "This did not happen at last night's preseason game against Tampa Bay", the message continues.

Moments earlier, Jordan retweeted and commented on one of Trump's tweets, which called for NFL players who don't stand for the national anthem to be suspended without pay, wondering why Trump chose to speak out about national anthem protests instead of the second "Unite the Right" rally being held in the nation's capital this weekend. For several years, many National Football League players have kneeled during the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner to protest cases of police abuse. Find another way to protest.

The NFL announced a new policy during the offseason stating players have the option to stay in the locker room during the anthem.

The anthem-kneeling controversy has been raging since 2016 when Colin Kaepernick, then a quarterback with the 49ers, first refused to stand as a lone protest against police brutality, particularly toward black Americans and racial oppression.

"Before we enjoy this game let's take some time to ponder that more than 60 per cent of the prison population are people of colour", he tweeted ahead of the game.

In a separate protest, Philadelphia Eagles players Malcolm Jenkins and De'Vante Bausby raised their fists during the playing of the song before their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
