City set a host of records - including most points, most wins, most goals and biggest winning margin - as they powered to the Premier League title last term.

Arsenal played City three times last season and lost all games with a 9-1 aggregate scoreline.

Arsenal need more from their star man, especially with potent finishers Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette needing quality supply. "Manchester City have given me a fantastic squad".

City, meanwhile, only managed to bring Algeria global Riyad Mahrez in the transfer window, while the likes of Yaya Toure and Joe Hart have left.

The second goal from Bernardo Silva summed up City's ruthless attacking prowess as he thumped the ball into the roof of the net - sending a clear message to the rest of the league that City will once again be the team to beat this season.

There could be debuts for Torreira, Sokratis and Leno, as the German is indeed considered as Arsenal's new No.1, ahead of veteran Petr Cech.

It's a fresh start for everyone at the club and what better way to continue the new found positivity surrounding Arsenal than with an opening day win against City.

Unai Emery has declared his desire to keep Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey at Arsenal, but insists he will not be the one to handle the contract negotiations. Bosnian Sead Kolasinac is out for two months with a knee injury and Nacho Monreal isn't yet match fit. It means Ainsley Maitland-Niles could be primed for a start in a position he is somewhat familiar with from last season.

Emery has clearly placed a big emphasis upon playing out from defence, but goalkeeper Petr Cech - slightly surprisingly preferred over newcomer Bernd Leno - looked consistently nervous at goal kicks, at one point hopelessly scuffing a simple pass backwards, nearly into his own net.

New Gunners boss Unai Emery couldn't have asked for a tougher fixture to make his Premier League bow than one against a manager he has never beaten. "We are satisfied for many, many reasons", Guardiola told Sky Sports.

He'll be joining a strong attacking force that already includes the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero.

Pep Guardiola snapped up Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City in the summer and he will start out wide.

Sterling was allowed to cut in from the left and slot home while Silva roamed in the box before tucking home Benjamin Mendy's cross.

Man City's domestic success has been well documented over the last few years, while Arsenal have failed to finish in the top four of the EPL in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1996.
