"They're the ones with the power these days - unfortunately".

It lead the Portuguese to vent his feelings after the final whistle at Old Trafford and reiterate his warning for the new season.

"I think football is changing and probably football managers should be called head coaches".

A director of football would be created to work as a buffer between the coach and the board, and maintain United's style and ethos, no matter who was in the dugout.

"We don't have a penalty taker, it's how we feel and I made a decision to take it".

"When we have everybody with you, everybody next to you know they want to fight for you, obviously it's going to be easier, you know?" he said. Or you believe in the pundits and go with what they say.

Manchester United are ready to overhaul their approach to recruitment by hiring a Director of Football in reaction to their disappointing transfer window, according to reports.

"I am surprised by what Pogba has said, because it's pretty bold, I think it shows his confidence".

United gaffer Jose Mourinho claims he "needed six changes not three" in his side's season opener, with Anthony Martial seeing no game as other options had to take priority. "We thought a maximum 60 minutes but he managed 80".

Mourinho cut a gloomy figure throughout pre-season, seemingly frustrated by the club's failure - or disinclination - to secure more of his summer transfer targets.

The crowd went wild as players surrounded the World Cup victor, but one fan, who was named after the great George Best was celebrating more than most.

Shaw, who himself has suffered plenty of criticism from Mourinho in the past two seasons, appeared to make the game safe when he fired low into the far corner to spark wild celebrations from his manager.

"The thinking was that he is a very good penalty taker and he likes the responsibility of it and he's the first choice", Mourinho said, via the Mirror.

The United manager claimed during the tour of the USA that Pogba's form had improved during the World Cup because he was free from distractions and fully focused on football.

Matteo Darmian, hoping for a return to Italy before the end of the month, tested Schmeichel at the near post early into a second half that United started with bundles of possession but few clear-cut chances.
