Minister for sports, Solomon Dalung, has pledged to give the Nigerian U-20 team a bonus of $10,000 if they beat China in their final group game at the FIFA Women's World Cup in France, Completesports reports.

The Falconets are placed second on the log after securing three points from two games and need to avoid a defeat against the Asians to book their place in the quarterfinal.

Nigeria's midfielder Grace Igboamalu (L) heads the ball with China's defender Jie Zhi during the Women's World Cup U20 Group D football match China vs Nigeria on August 13, 2018, at the Clos Gastel stadium in Dinan, north-western France.

"I believe that the Falconets have been well motivated for Monday's game against China and I've been assured by the players that they will play out their hearts to get a quarter final ticket", Dalung told media.

"We have no illusions".

Needing a victory to leapfrog the Nigerians to the runners-up spot in the group, China were the more risky side in the first half at the Stade du Clos Gastel.

The goal was scored by Rasheedat Ajibade in the 95th minute to cancel out that scored by China's Zhang Linyan in the 41st.

The Asians were stronger in defence in the second half as the Nigerian girls continued to push for an equalizer. This was a player who was down the pecking order during the African qualifying series when Onyinyechukwu Okeke held sway in goal.
