Hulu has renewed anthology drama Castle Rock for a second season, the streamer announced Tuesday. The show is inspired by the stories of Stephen King, and the first season premiered last month to great reviews and impressive viewing figures. However, showrunners Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason noted at the ATX Television Festival in June that there is always the possibility of catching up with various characters at different periods in their lives.

From creators Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason, the anthology drama is set in Castle Rock - the ill-fated fictional ME town featured in such King works as The Dead Zone and Cujo - and weaves together characters and themes from King's book catalogue to present an original story. Castle Rock is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Hulu's partnership with King first began with a miniseries adaptation of King's novel 11.22.63 in 2016 which has similarly seen a noticeable increase in viewers since Castle Rock's premiere.

The psychological horror series, which chronicles an original tale set in Stephen King's titular fictional town - and, more broadly, in his written multiverse - stars André Holland, Bill Skarsgärd, Sissy Spacek, Melanie Lynskey, and Jane Levy. The project is just now hitting its sixth episode of the first season, but Hulu says Castle Rock is the most successful first-season original content show for them, so a renewal is a no-brainer.

The second season of the drama will also be set in Castle Rock, but will feature a new narrative and cast.

New episodes of "Castle Rock" are released every Wednesday on Hulu.
