Arsenal pulled themselves back into the match after going down 2-0 inside the first 20 minutes but struggled to gain a foothold in the game and ultimately lost thanks to Marcos Alonso's late victor.

"For me it's about finding the good balance for all that we want in attacking moments and defensive moments".

The defeat means Arsenal have lost their first two league games of the season for the first time since 1992, but Emery insisted there is no reason to panic.

Nacho Monreal's return to fitness has come at a good time for Emery, who is in need of a left-back having been without the Spain worldwide and Sead Kolasinac for the City game. "We don't take risks with yellow cards and for giving chances to other players we have in the match".

"The team competed well today, had chances in the match and the young players are growing up with us".

"Sam Allardyce was having a go at a manager who's just had his first game, playing against the best team in the league, trying to put a stamp on his philosophy into this club - let's see how Arsenal do in six months in six months' time, because I saw a lot of good in their play".

Later in the game, both Mkhitaryan and Iwobi also missed similar chances in front of an open goal that would have given Arsenal a clear advantage.

"The second half was when we needed to control the game and create chances, but in the second half we didn't push, or keep possession, and we gave them options to score. We lost a bit of the positioning on the pitch in the second half, and were working very deep". "But if we start with Bernd, I believe in him also".

Chelsea dominated much of the second half despite Emery making a tactical half-time substitution to bring on new signing Lucas Torreira for Granit Xhaka, who had struggled up to that point. "I am happy without the result".

"We did very well for 75 minutes but inside that, 15 minutes [when Arsenal scored twice] were terrible. We fought hard for him". I am happy with Mesut.

So it was a surprise for fans to see Cech in the starting line-up for the City game last Sunday, and whilst making a few good saves to stop the scoreline from increasing any further, this was overshadowed by an embarrassing moment where Cech nearly kicked the ball into his own goal under no pressure whatsoever.
