The film follows Robert The Bruce on his journey from defeated nobleman to national hero during the oppressive occupation of medieval Scotland by Edward I of England. Pine plays the historical figure.

Outlaw King will depict Robert seizing the Scottish crown, and rallying supporters to fight back against the mighty army of the tyrannical King and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales.

Netflix has released the first official trailer for the historical drama Outlaw King, starring Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984) as medieval Scottish king Robert the Bruce. The screenplay for Outlaw King was written by Bash Doran, James MacInnes, and David Mackenzie, with additional writing by Mark Bomback and David Harrower.

The based-on-a-true-story Outlaw King is slated to open the Toronto International Film Festival in September, which is a pretty solid indication that the film will be a success for Netflix.

Take a look at the trailer above and tell us what you think.

Co-starring with Pine are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Florence Pugh, Billy Howle, Tony Curran, Stephen Dillane, James Cosmo and Sam Spruell.

Why We're Excited: Outlaw King has all the makings of a holiday blockbuster, but you won't have to leave your couch to enjoy the big-budget epic (although you could: the film hits select theaters on November 9, the same day is debuts on Netflix).
