Arsene Wenger says his former player Thierry Henry wants the Bordeaux manager's job.

Bordeaux suspended Gustavo Poyet after the head coach described the decision to sell Gaetan Laborde to Montpellier as "a disgrace".

Bordeaux sold striker Gaetan Laborde to rivals Montpellier and Poyet reacted furiously after their Europa League win over FC Mariupol, labelling the transfer "a disgrace".

That's according to former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who says that the club's record goalscorer is keen to replace Gus Poyet should he leave.

"Yes, he wants to do it", Wenger told Corse Matin.

And according to Wenger, the four-time Premier League Golden Boot victor fancies taking charge of Bordeaux for his first managerial job.

Henry, who was part of Belgium's technical crew at the Summer World Cup in Russian Federation, was expected to take over the coaching role at Championship side Aston Villa in the summer before their new owners chose to keep current boss Steve Bruce.

"He is intelligent and he has the qualities".

'The existential question that we always ask ourselves is whether we are ready to sacrifice our life for the coaching profession. "When you are passionate, you steal your time from those whom you love and to whom you could have given much more".

As for his own career, Wenger says he is still unsure over what his next move will be.

"I decided not to decide", he said.

"I want to talk to my agent and I am going to make a decision".

"When you have been as busy as I have been, you always fear a little emptiness".

"I talk a lot too, I can sit for hours contemplating the horizon, I read every day".

Do you think the former France global will be a successful head coach?
