He is now practicing with Australian side Central Coast Mariners and made his debut on the left wing in a trial match.

"With space, he could be a very good footballer", Del Bosque told the Olympic Channel.

Bolt during the Mariners' trial.

Bolt played most of his 20 minutes in the trial for the Mariners at striker or winger, and missed a chance to score late in the match.

Despite playing for Central Coast Mariners on the wing, Vicente del Bosque believes Usain Bolt would be better off at full-back.

"It's about doing that many times and that requires stamina which I do not know if he has although I'm sure he has prepared".

"Without a doubt as a full-back, with his back towards the crowd and the touchline, that's where he would be most useful".

Del Bosque, whose glittering coaching career includes winning the Champions League and La Liga twice with Real Madrid, as well as the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championship with Spain, has proposed that Bolt move from wing to full-back in order to make the most of his pace.

Bolt is now taking a break from his efforts of becoming a professional football player.

The eight-time Olympic champion has played one friendly with the Australian side, while he also featured in a friendly for Norwegian side Stromsgodset and trained with Borussia Dortmund.

"It's hard because despite being in peak physical condition, I believe that the technical part is the fundamental part of football".

"He will probably learn the tactical side and get to understand the game better both defensively and offensively".

"I'm sure he will find a solution to all of that, but the most hard part will be to acquire the technical skills you need for any play. Control, passing, dribbling, a good touch on the ball, skills that you normally have had since childhood".
