Of course, Ben and Skin had to see if they could get some thoughts out of the future Hall-of-Famer on Rick Carlisle's new weapon Luka Doncic.

Dirk Nowitzki is impressed with his rookie teammate. But according to Nowitzki, the resemblance, in most other respects, stops there.

"At 19, I could shoot a little bit, but I never had the court vision and savviness he brings to the game", Nowitzki said, appearing Tuesday on Dallas radio's 105.3 The Fan. Just the way he already reads the pick and roll ... all the stuff like Chris Paul and these guys do ...

Doncic signed with Real Madrid at age 13 and made his debut as a 16-year-old. In 2018 he was named the MVP of the EuroLeague, EuroLeague Final Four and Liga ACB as he led Real Madrid to EuroLeague and and Liga ACB titles.

"Obviously, the last couple years, I've played more at the [center position]", Nowitzki said.

However, the 40-year-old German believes it's important to ease the Slovenian into the Association as he transitions from playing in Europe to playing stateside. It's tough. You have to adjust to a lot of things. For me, that took a full year. That year was really really tough. "He's going to pick defenses apart and it's going to be fun to watch". "But he's an incredible talent".

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Nowitzki, who will be playing his 21st season in the National Basketball Association, shared that he's already been working out with Doncic.

The 6-foot-7 combo guard will add some much-needed scoring and playmaking alongside point guard Dennis Smith Jr as the Mavericks look to build their long-term foundation around their young backcourt.

At $5.5 million, Doncic's rookie salary will outstrip the one-year, $5 million deal Nowitzki resigned for this summer.

"Yeah, he's been here now for a week", Nowitzki said. He's incredible with the ball for a big guy.

The likelihood of certain Mavericks being traded varies from player to player, but if Dallas is looking at its best-case scenarios, it certainly won't be sitting idly by once trade season rolls around. He did, like, over-the-head, between-the-leg passes to cutters.
