Lloris missed the defeat at Watford before the global break after suffering the problem during the win over Manchester United in late August and the French worldwide is expected to be out for several weeks.

But boss Mauricio Pochettino will confirm today that the World Cup victor will retain the armband ahead of Saturday's clash with Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur will be without midfielder Dele Alli and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris when they face Liverpool at Wembley on Saturday.

He was given a 20-month driving ban and fined £50,000 at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

"He's the first that regrets everything, and all that happened yesterday is not good", he said. He said "Gaffer, I made a mistake". He made a mistake and he's suffered the punishment of society.

"[Dele] Alli is a bit unlucky, he suffered a small injury after 20 minutes against Spain", Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said.

"It's a massive lesson for everyone".

"When a striker does not fill the net and does not score goals, always you need to find some reason why but I think he is fit", Pochettino said. Like a man that he is, he is going to accept everything'.

It seems likely both Spurs' captain and Alli will miss Tuesday's Champions League Group B match at Inter Milan too. I told him today where is my present Sonny?

Asked then about stripping him of the role, he said: "I never considered that". "I'm happy because the circumstances of the summer were so different from another season".

"We know Harry Kane very well and have worked with him for more than four years and we know it's not a situation that worries us". I allowed him to go there.

Pochettino was less illuminating about talk Toby Alderweireld may get a new contract.

"Hopefully everything is going well and he can be back as soon as possible, like Dele".
