‘The Romanoffs’ New Trailer: Tensions Run High in Matthew Weiner’s Anthology Series

'Mad Men' creator Matthew Weiner has a new TV series on the way soon to Amazon Prime that looks very promising indeed. The cast is impeccable, and this trailer teases a variety of different stories on tap. Each of the first season's eight episodes tells a different story about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the exiled Russian royal family.

Set in seven countries around the globe, The Romanoffs was shot on location in Europe, the Americas, and the Far East.

The Amazon Prime series debuts on October 12th with two episodes.

Weiner, who created, written, directed and executive produced the series, reunites with Mad Men alum including Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Jay R. Ferguson, and Cara Buono.

Created, written, directed and executive produced by nine-time Emmy award victor Matthew Weiner (Mad Men), The Romanoffs is a one-hour contemporary anthology series that eight separate stories that focuses on people around the world that truly believe that they are descendants from the infamous Russian royal family. The show also features a long list of other notable actors, such as Diane Lane, Amanda Peet, Isabelle Huppert, Andrew Rannels, Paul Reiser, Kathryn Hahn, Mary Kay Place, Clea Duvall, Radha Mitchell, and many more.

The first episode, entitled The Violet Hour, stars Eckhart, Marthe Keller, Ines Melab and Louise Bourgoin and is set in Paris, where an ancestral home holds the key to a family's future.

It remains to be seen if The Romanoffs' high concept, big budget, and accomplished cast all add up to a critically acclaimed show.
