We were reminded of this in small hours of Sunday morning as the former Swedish global brought up his 500th career goal in spectacular fashion during LA Galaxy's game with Toronto.

The six-foot-five (1.95 metre) Ibrahimovic released a perfectly-timed roundhouse kick in the 43th minute that fooled goalkeeper Alex Bono for his 17th goal of the season.

The 36-year-old also has 62 goals for Sweden.

Galaxy were trailing 3-0 at the time but Ibrahimovic's goal sparked a comeback as they pulled level, before eventually falling to a 5-3 defeat. He has now scored 19 goals in 21 career MLS games.

The 36-year-old Swede joined Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the only active players with 500 goals for club and global play, cutting the Galaxy's lead to 3-1 in the 43rd minute.

The former Manchester United striker became the third current active player, only after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, to score 500 career goals. 'I have more goals than he has games. "I am happy for Toronto because they will be remembered as my 500th victim", said Ibrahimovic. "It came from a cross and I turned around and I hit it". "The guy is a great goal scorer and it is a memorable one for him for many reasons".

Over his illustrious club career, he also has scored for Paris Saint-Germain (156 goals), Inter Milan (66), AC Milan (56), Ajax (48), Manchester United (29), Juventus (26), Barcelona (22), and Malmo (18).
