The second scoring drive of the quarter came on the next drive and was a much quicker strike: Cuse running back Jarveon Howard used a 45-yard rush to set the Orange up at their own three yard line before DeVito's first touchdown pass of the game to Ravian Pierce made it a 20-0 game.

Dungey, the team's fiery leader, never returned on this day and it didn't matter as DeVito, a redshirt freshman with scant experience, exhibited great poise in guiding the Orange (3-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) in the second half as they snapped a five-game conference losing streak.

Florida State went 70 yards in eight plays and were almost stopped inside the 'Cuse five yardline, but a pass interference call at the front of the end zone off a dropped pass on fourth down gave the Noles a fresh set of downs, and Francois finished the drive with his legs to make it 23-7. FSU had not allowed a point in the third quarter and just 10 second-half points in splitting the first two games against then-No. FSU quarterback Deondre Francois threw for 178 yards and rushed for the lone Seminoles touchdown in the loss. It was blown out by Virginia Tech in its season opener and barely managed to beat FCS member Samford at home last week. Cam Akers led the Seminoles on the ground with 52 yards on 10 carries. But time expired with the Seminoles inside the red zone and the second half was a bust.

The Seminoles failed to find any momentum offensively.

Florida State has had a horrendous start in Taggart's first year at the helm. The Orange defense also racked up 4 sacks.
