Amazon says more than 1 million products from about 20,000 businesses were selected to be featured on the site, based on ratings from customers.

Amazon has been at the forefront of a digital revolution, changing how people shop.

Dubbed Amazon Storefronts, the new service allows customers to purchase products exclusively from the almost 20,000 small and medium-sized businesses across the United States selling on Amazon.

Curated American Collections: Customers can shop from more than 25 product categories to discover items from US innovators, artisans, entrepreneurs and more, including products like protein sandwich cookies. Amazon Storefronts features a variety of product categories including Back to School, Halloween, Home, Kitchen, Pet Supplies and Books.

Amazon is making a big play to challenge Etsy by launching a new store.

The Little Flower Soap Co. also stars in Amazon's first national TV commercial. Showcasing small and medium-sized businesses via its new portal could attract more of those companies to the Amazon seller platform-meaning Amazon makes more cash. Since they started selling their products on Amazon (amzn) in October 2016, the company's sales have almost doubled, said Holly Rutt, co-founder of Little Flower Soap Co.

Meet the Business Owner: Rotating exploratory feature that profiles USA small and medium-sized businesses selling on Amazon. "Due to our success, we have been able to hire new team members from our community, including full and part time jobs", said Holly Rutt, co-founder of Little Flower Soap Co., the USA business owner featured in the national TV ad.

Amazon says it isn't charging small businesses to appear on Storefronts and the company says it plans to add more companies to the site over time.
