Organizers said the strike is targeting McDonald's restaurants in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Milwaukee, New Orleans, San Francisco and St. Louis, as well as Durham, North Carolina; Kansas City, Missouri; and Orlando, Florida.

The workers have joined forces with the TIME'S UP Legal Defense Fund and the Fight for $15, a movement dedicated to raising wages and establishing unions for fast food employees, to file a series of complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

"We have policies, procedures and training in place that are specifically created to prevent sexual harassment at our company and company-owned restaurants, and we firmly believe that our franchisees share this commitment", the company said.

Workers at McDonald's around the country are planning to strike on Tuesday, September 18th to send a message that sexual harassment must end within the company. They told her she was acting "like a little girl" about it.

Some workers have shared tales of groping, inappropriate advances and sexual assaults - stories that have prompted McDonald's workers in 10 cities to walk off the job and call for zero tolerance toward those workplace incidents.

RAINN is an anti-sexual violence organization that provides training and assists those affected by sexual violence. She alleged that a co-worker verbally and physically harassed her, the AP reported.

"It's sad that we have to walk off the job in order to be treated with respect at McDonald's, but we're not going to stay quiet while the company ignores the harassment we're facing", Harrell said in a statement. "They could do a way more better job".

We've talked a lot about the effects of the #MeToo Movement in the entertainment industry, in politics, and in tech, but of course, those aren't the only industries where sexual harassment and discrimination run rampant.

Lawson, who has a 4-year-old daughter, says she makes $9 an hour.

In St. Louis, one teenage accuser said an older male employee told her she had a "nice body" and asked, "Have you ever had white chocolate inside you?" the National Women's Law Center said in a news release earlier this year. They said the panel should be made up of workers, corporate and franchise representatives and leaders of national women's groups.

Which cities are affected by the strike?

While several speakers at the Orlando event were African-American women who said they were victims of sexual harassment, numerous protesters were pushing for a $15 hourly wage and a union for McDonald's workers.

One of those employees making demands is Tanya Harrell, a McDonald's worker from Louisiana.
