The game developer added new files that are related to the mysterious cube and Loot Lake. The cube reached the lake, lowered itself in, and turned the whole expanse of water into gelatinous purple slime.

The cube has spent the past few weeks rolling around the map, while stopping at certain points, printing out "runes" on the ground and leaving behind anti-gravity fields in its wake. Check out the entire event below captured by YouTube user Laytxn.

So, as many had suspected, the cube ended its journey by reaching Loot Lake, an area of the map many players, myself included, viewed as a large portion of wasted space due to how little it held in rewards and how tough it was to navigate safely.

The cube, affectionately referred to as "Kevin" by some players, has been moving around the Fortnite Battle Royale map for a number of weeks but nobody is entirely sure what its goal is. There are some notable differences - you can't anger the purple lake by shooting it, for example, and it no longer hits people with lightning bolts if disturbed.

Fortnite: Battle Royale's Season 5 is scheduled to end early next week, though no announcement for the start of Season 6 has been made yet.
