Liverpool FC blew a 2-0 lead before coming back to win 3-2 against a Paris Saint-Germain side that appeared at times to be overwhelmed by the setting and the occasion in the 2018-2019 Champions League opener.

While Kylian Mbappe equalised in the 83rd minute and Julian Draxler could have won the game for his side moments later, it was Liverpool who took the three points home after a sublime goal from Roberto Firmino won the game.

The biggest match of the day lived up to its billing as the match guaranteed goals and was finally settled in stoppage time.

"There wasn't much space for Neymar".

But the French champions pulled one back before the interval through Thomas Meunier - the goal allowed to stand despite Edinson Cavani being offside in the build-up.

"If you're looking at winning a Champions League or Premier League, you want strength in depth, and Sturridge will be a key part of that this year", Rosenior said.

It was a lead which Liverpool more than deserved, even if PSG had appeared to have weathered their persistent, early pressure.

'I took the recovery seriously and my family helped me a lot too, so I'm very happy'.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool cruised through the second half with PSG creating very little.

While Liverpool fans are pumped for the nights when PSG, Roma or Borussia Dortmund come to town, games against Brighton, Bournemouth and Huddersfield have a different feel.

Daniel Sturridge, in for Firmino, had opened the scoring for an impressive Liverpool in the 30th minute with a fine header from an Andy Robertson cross.

The red tide rose again and when Georginio Wijnaldum was brought down by Juan Bernat, Milner drilled an unstoppable penalty inside Areola's left-hand post despite the goalkeeper going the right way.

'The fascinating thing about PSG's performance at Anfield is that they only played when they had the ball.
