In the hotly anticipated documentary about the royal family Queen of the World- in which Meghan makes an appearance - the Duchess of Sussex spills an important detail about her now iconic Givency wedding dress that no one knew about before.

Meghan Markle's "something blue" at her wedding was a piece of fabric from the dress she wore on her first date with Prince Harry, which she had stitched into her veil.

She is wearing the same navy dress she wore the day before her marriage, when she arrived at her pre-wedding accommodation with her mother, Doria Ragland.

In a clip obtained by People from a soon-to-be-released documentary on Queen Elizabeth II called "Queen of the World", the Duchess of Sussex explained her "something blue". "And I think the other members of the family had a similar reaction and just appreciation for the fact that we understand how important this is for us and the role that we play, and the work that we're going to continue to do within the Commonwealth countries".

The royal newlyweds will visit Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand in a tour to coincide with the Invictus Games which is being held in Sydney from October 20 to 27. "It's such an exciting time for us, especially with Harry's role as Youth Ambassador for the Commonwealth and the travel that we intend to do to work specifically in all those different territories".

What was your wedding day "something blue"?

The 16.5-foot silk tulle veil was hand-embroidered in silk and organza and famously featured flora representing the countries of the Commonwealth.

The touching reminder wasn't the only tradition the bride participated in on the day as her "something borrowed" came from the monarch herself.

"It's fabric from the dress that I wore on our first date", she told the programme.

Harry has suggested it was fate he met Meghan as the stars were "aligned" when they got together - a moment which also has great significance for his wife.
